Staerstone’s main characters are a young woman, Zericha, and man, Andalu, striving to get to the top of the mountain to protect their people from war and destruction. A climbing competition is relatively peaceful compared to all-out war, but combat is an element and they’re ordered to kill each other, if they can. The big problem is that – the moment they meet – they click, and they really like climbing together, when they’re forced to, so they face the problem, can they hold onto their world and each other? 

Staerstone is the first novel published by author H.K. Stubbs, an avid climber and writer, with many other short works and non-fiction articles published. We’ll feature an interview with her in a future article.
